Work for major Smart City projects including ICCC- Integrated Command and Control Centre, Smart City, KP Stadium is almost completed. The deadline for various smart city project lies in June. The commencement date is after 4th June i.e. post the Lok Sabha Elections’ result. The deadline has been decided after elections' result as projects also depend on the formation of the new government.
The major project that is under everyone’s scanner is Jalandhar CCTV Camera project or ICCC- Integrated Command and Control Centre. Jalandhar has been going through the problem of traffic management for a long period. To get rid of all problems regarding traffic mismanagement, concerned authorities announced the setting up of ICCC- Integrated Command and Control Centre. The main objective of setting up of ICCC was to streamline city’s traffic and enhance surveillance. Under the ICCC project 1218 CCTV cameras were to be set up in 188 locations of the city which will get connected to ICCC by 2023. These cameras included bullet cameras, automated number plate reading cameras, and 360-degree view cameras. Adding to this, the surveillance would be further integrated with E-challans which will help police maintain law and order.
However, this project missed various deadlines and is still not fully operational. The ICCC project at one point of time was set to go live on January 26th, 2024 but it didn’t happen due to various reasons. Reasons that led to delay of ICCC project were pending permission to set up camera in army areas and ₹ 32 crores of payment in the ICCC Project are still pending.
As per the latest reports released, finally, the wait will be over. Reports reveal that 95% of the work of Jalandhar’s CCTV Camera Project is complete and it is set to go live on 4th June 2024. Testing for issuing e-challans on vehicles is also being done.
