Jalandhar Commissionerate Police disposes off more than 2.5 ‘quintal’ of drugs

Jalandhar Commissionerate Police led by Commissioner of Police Swapan Sharma on Wednesday disposed off huge quantities of drugs confiscated from the smugglers during a period of time.

 

Divulging the details, the Commissioner of Police said that in the war against drugs Police had recovered a huge quantity of drugs by registering various cases against the drug peddlers. He said that u/s 52 A of NDPS Act, the case property is destroyed by the drug disposal committee. Mr. Swapan Sharma said that drug disposal committee led by DCP Mr. Ankur Gupta, ADCP Mr. Aditya Warrier and Mr. Sanjay Kumar destroyed the drug property in the city.

 

The Commissioner of Police said that the drug property destroyed today included 261 kg of Poppy Husk, 2.9 kg of Heroin, 4.5kg of Ganja and 740 grams of intoxicant powder. While reiterating the firm commitment of the Commissionerate Police to wipe out drug menace from the district, he said that a zero tolerance policy is being adopted by the force against this heinous crime. Mr. Swapan Sharma said that anybody, however affluent he or she may be, indulging in this crime against humanity would not be spared by the Commissionerate Police.

 

The Commissioner of Police said that a strict vigil was being kept by the Commissionerate Police to check the supply of drugs on one hand and eliminate it from roots on the other. He said that the main thrust is to ensure that Jalandhar is made free from this curse adding that no stone is being left unturned for this noble cause and the efforts to eliminate this scourge are being made on war footing. Meanwhile, Mr. Swapan Sharma, while soliciting fulsome support and cooperation of the general public in the war against drugs, said that the mission of making Jalandhar a drug free district could not be achieved without their help.
