Coronavirus-Outbreak Lockdown-Effect Jalandhar-Marriage
Despite a few relaxations provided by the government amidst coronavirus induced lockdown, Jalandhar witnesses a unique marriage in Rs 1.15 only. Though the GoI has now allowed the gathering in marriages, on May 30 a couple tied a nuptial knot of the wedding at the PAP campus in Jalandhar in which only 2 families participated.

The marriage was attended by 5 members each from the bride and groom's side. Not only this, but families also remained reluctant to give away and accept dowry and the marriage took place in the gurudwara. On tying the knot, Rs 1.15 was given to the couple in the form of blessing.

On this occasion, the boy's uncle Rajinder Thapar said that the practice of dowry should be stopped in the society so that the girl's family would not be burdened during the marriage and no conflict can be raised by any of the families based on dowry after marriage.

The bride's father Gurdev Singh said that he is posted as an ASI in the Punjab Police, the decision was taken by mutual coordination and consensus. Mr Singh also imparted the same message to the whole society. The bride and groom were also happy that their wedding happened at just Rs 1.15. The couple said, that there should be no extravagance in the marriage and no dowry should be given.
