In a shocking incident, a student of DAV Institute & Engineering Technology, Jalandhar died by suicide. The deceased has been identified as Shivam Chauhan, a resident of Babu Labh Singh Nagar. The family alleges that the Principal of DAVIET College had lodged a false case against their son. Due to this, he committed suicide out of trouble.
Last year on December 24, Shivam, a student of BCA second year had a fight with some boys at the college. In connection with this, a case was registered against him. After the case, Shivam's parents kept pleading in front of the principal to withdraw the case and also said that their son's future would be spoiled.
His parents alleged that the principal and the dean of the college did not listen to them and told them on the contrary that they would ruin the life of their son as well as the life of their younger son. Shivam's parents kept pleading in front of the principal to withdraw the police case registered against their son, but the principal refused to meet them.
After this police case, Shivam was very worried, and yesterday when Shivam left his house, he consumed poison pills on the way. After knowing about this, his parents took him to a nearby private hospital, where he died.
Shivam's parents alleged that their son's life has been taken by the principal and the dean of the college. They kept pleading to them for the future of their child, but the principal did not listen to them, after which their child went into depression and took this step and ended his life. Shivam's parents are now pleading for justice from the government after the death of their son.

Police said that based on the statements of Shivam's family members, they have taken action under Section 174. It will be known only after the rest of the investigation why did Shivam commit suicide.
Enraged family and students after Shivam's death staged a sit-in on the flyover outside DAV College, Jalandhar, and also raised slogans against the college. The family demands that till action is not taken against the Principal, they will not move. The family demands that the Principal should be suspended.
