Jalandhar-Ludhiana Hwy to be closed due to protest against young farmers’ death at Khanauri Border

Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU) will be staging a protest due to the death of the Punjabi youth from Bathinda on the Jalandhar National Highway. In light of this, the Highway will remain closed from 11 AM to 2 PM today (February 22).

 

Informing more on this matter, District President of BKU Qadian said that the union is organizing a which will result in a jam on the national highway. They were originally planning to protest from 10 AM to 4 PM but considering the difficulties that the public might face, the schedule was changed to 10 AM to 2 PM. According to sources, the highway will be jammed at the cowshed near the Sutlej Bridge in Phillaur.

 

The reason behind the protest is that Shubhkaran Singh (21) died at the Khanauri Border protests after suffering a head injury caused by a bullet, according to initial examination during post-mortem. He was the son of Charanjeet Singh of Ballo village in Bathinda district and has two sisters. The young farmer had gone to the Khanauri Border in the Farmers’ protest 3 to 4 days ago.
