The anger of the people finally erupted over the non-construction of a road from Ramamandi in Jalandhar to village Talhan. On Saturday, a sit-in was staged at Dhilwan Chowk in Ramamandi, which resulted in a one-hour closure of the Hoshiarpur highway. Due to the closure of the highway, there were long queues of vehicles on both sides of the highway.

Heavy police force including ACP and SHO of the area reached the spot. ACP Nirmal Singh also made an effort to persuade the people, but they were unwilling to listen. People faced many difficulties due to the road being blocked.  It is the festive season, so people are either returning home for Diwali or traveling great distances to go shopping in the city.

He told the people that they are taking the law into their own hands by blocking the highway. Their decision to obstruct the highway is not beneficial. They should sit to one side and express their rage if they want.

He said that the administrative officers were also made aware of your situation. SDM is also reaching the spot. But people did not listen and started shouting slogans against the government.

After people's anger and sloganeering on the spot, ACP Nirmal Singh left from there and sent his staff members and called the leaders of the sit-in protestors and apprised them of the problems being faced by the people on the highway. Area councilor Bittu also reached the spot. He also assured the people of early road construction. After this, people opened one lane of the highway for traffic.

People allege that thousands and lakhs of devotees go from Dhilwan Chowk of Rama Mandi to Gurughar in Talhan Sahib, but the condition of the road is so bad that people have to face trouble.

The construction of these roads was also inaugurated by the local Central constituency MLA Raman Arora, but after that neither the road builders were seen nor the local MLA was seen.

Currently, if winter arrives in November, road construction work will likewise come to an end. Following that, it will take at least three to four months for the winter to pass before road work can begin. Even then, though, there is no assurance that the road will be built.
