Jalandhar: Excise department raid in PPR market, liquor being served in restaurant without license

Liquor is being served in vehicles every day in the PPR market of Jalandhar, which is a direct violation of the Excise Act. Many restaurants in the market are serving liquor without an excise license.

Due to this, a team of excise department raided on Thursday night. A large number of people were caught drinking in the vehicles.

According to the information, the team also raided Bablu Chicken Corner. On the spot, a case was registered for serving liquor due to a lack of an excise license. People were released after being warned by the team.

However, there is a provision of a Rs. 1 lakh fine for drinking alcohol in vehicles in public on the road. The team included Excise Officers Harjot Singh, Jaspreet Singh, Inspectors Raman Bhagat, Ram Murthy and police personnel.

Harjot Singh and Jaspreet Singh said that action is being taken against those who continuously violate the rules.

A case has been registered regarding the same. It is to be noted that this is the second raid of the Excise Department in a month. Earlier, action was taken against Infinity restaurant in the PPR market itself.
