In the latest development, Police have arrested the accused in the murder of a Jalandhar girl whose body was found in Una's Amb in Himachal Pradesh. Preliminary investigation revealed that deceased was demanding money from accused because of which he planned to murder her.
Reportedly, the body of deceased identified as Baljeet Kaur (21), a resident of Phillaur in Jalandhar, was found lying in the forest of Ghebat Behad on January 23, 2023. Police while investigating found a phone lying near her body because of which they were able to contact her family and do the identification. During questioning, father of deceased revealed that Baljeet had gone to her friend’s wedding and did not return from there after which they lodged her missing complaint.
Police then constituted SIT under the leadership of ASP Una Praveen Kumar, Amb DSP Dr. Vasudha Sood and Amb SHO Amb Ashish Pathania. During the SIT’s investigations, deceased’s phone recordings and calls were scrutinized to get an idea of the suspects. On 26th January 2023, police arrested accused Jaggi, a resident of village Talwan in Baljeet’s murder case.
On being interrogated, accused Jaggi revealed that he along with his accomplice Varun brought Baljeet to Himachal. They found a deep ditch along the main road of the forest of Ghebat Behad where the accused strangulated her and then threw her into the ditch.
Reportedly, Jaggi was a good acquaintance of Bajeet. He met two years back and they used to talk frequently on phone. During this, Jaggi also alleged that he had a physical relationship with the deceased post which she demanded Rs. 4 lakhs from him. Due to this he along with his friend Varun made a plan to kill Baljeet. As per information, Varun is still absconding and police have initiated a search operation against him.
