The government of Punjab makes countless claims that corruption has been eradicated, but the reality is that despite gambling in the form of lotteries and betting being illegal in Punjab, these activities continue. In one such case, a man, disturbed by the cheating of bookies, attempted self-immolation outside the residence of Jalandhar Police Commissioner Gurpreet Singh Toor.

The young man set himself on fire in an attempt to end his life. Pankaj Soni, a resident of Jalandhar city, also posted a post on his social media handles. In it, he revealed the identities of those who run the city's lottery, illegal betting, and gambling businesses. These are the same individuals who interact with administrative, law enforcement, and political officials.

Pankaj Soni posted on his social media handle that Jalandhar's bookie is responsible for what happened outside Jalandhar CP Residence. Pankaj Soni, while writing the names of some bookies VM, Pali, Noni, Ghoni, Bawa Ankush, etc., who do the business of betting, and lottery in Jalandhar, said that if anything happens to him and his family members, all these will be responsible for him.

Pankaj Soni has also tagged DGP Punjab and CM Bhagwant Mann in the post. The police officers gathered as soon as they learned that Pankaj tried to set himself on fire. They caught Pankaj even before he committed suicide. To burn himself, the young man had brought petrol.

He had also sprinkled some petrol on himself. The young man reported to the police that he had been duped in the name of gambling on cricket and the lottery. Even after winning the lottery and making a bet, he did not get any money. He has lost lakhs of rupees to the bookies. He felt deceived because he had now won. Based on the statements of the youth, the police registered a case and started action.
