In a major development, the District Administration of Jalandhar has started to update the revised collector tax rates for people who are considering to buy properties in the district. Jalandhar New Collector Rates 2025 will come into effect from May 22, 2025. It means people buying properties in the district will now have to keep the revised collector's tax in mind. The Deputy Commissioner (DC) and his office have reviewed and updated the rates after conducting a comprehensive survey of residential, commercial, and agricultural properties across the district.
Collector rates are government-fixed property rates used as a benchmark for property registration and stamp duty calculation. These rates determine the minimum price at which a property can be bought, sold, or registered. The revision ensures more accurate property tax collection and aims to curb undervaluation during registrations.
As per officials, the revised collector rates cover three main categories- Residential properties, Commercial properties, and Agricultural land. The rates vary based on the property's location. For example, whether it is situated on the main road or in an inner lane. Residential and commercial plots are measured in marla, while the agricultural land is measured in acres. As per the shared data by the District Administration, a hike of 10 to 40 percent in Jalandhar Collector Tax has been witnessed.

Why do Collector Rates matter?
Whenever a property is registered—whether bought or sold—the registry and applicable stamp duty charges will be calculated as per the new rates. This move is designed to bring more transparency to the property registration process and prevent attempts to undervalue property deals to save on government duties.
There have been instances where people tried to get property registered at lower-than-actual prices to reduce stamp duty. Revised collector rates help check this practice and ensure the government receives fair revenue.
With the new rates set to take effect from tomorrow, all property registrations from that date onward will be processed according to the updated values. Below is an attached document of list of collector tax based on area if you are buying or thinking of buying properties-
