Punjab is witnessing a surge in the number of coronavirus positive cases regularly and Jalandhar is among one of the worst-hit districts of the state. Jalandhar on Thursday has recorded 32 new cases of COVID. Of these positive cases, SDM (Shahkot) and other top bureaucrats have also fallen prey to the infection.
With this, the total number of corona positive cases in the district has reached 1,038 with 23 deaths.
Notably, the news of police officers reported positive for the infection has gripped the administration in panic also, lies the fear of community spread.
It has been learned that the aforesaid officials have attended the wedding party of former minister Avtar Henry's daughter on July 8. The health authorities will now contact trace and test each one of the attendees.

On July 9, a resident of Sultanpur Lodhi has succumbed to the disease. Reportedly, the deceased was tested positive late last evening. He already had the kidney related issues and was undergoing treatment at Civil Hospital, Jalandhar. The death of the patient has been confirmed by the SMO of Sultanpur Lodhi Civil Hospital.
