Jalandhar Police arrests 8 Lawrence Bishnoi’s gangsters for extortion & threats to life

Gangster with foreign connections had demanded extortion from the owner of Karma Fashion Showroom

Acting sternly against the criminals, the Jalandhar Commissionerate Police led by Commissioner of Police Swapan Sharma arrested eight gangsters of Lawrence Bishnoi gang, with weapons, involved in extortion, ransom, threat and other criminal activities.

 

Divulging the details, Commissioner of Police said that on January 27, 2024, owner of Karma Fashion Showroom received an extortion call demanding a substantial sum of Rs 50 lakhs. He said that swinging into action the Commissionerate Police registered FIR 11 dated 29-01-2024 under sections 387,34 IPC, 25-54-59 Arms Act at PS Division 4 Jalandhar and started investigation into the matter. Mr. Swapan Sharma said that during the investigation it became evident that the gang members had systematically gathered information about industrialists and businessmen, using this knowledge to extort money.

 

The Commissioner of Police said that based on investigation the Police arrested eight gangsters identified as Sanjay Bawa, Deepak Kumar s/o Mahinder Pal , Gajinder Rajpurat, Radhe, Abhishek Gill, Pappu , Manoj and Deepak Kumar s/o Phool. He said that all these gangsters have been arrested from Dhobi Ghat near TV Tower Jalandhar and one Pistol 30 bore with 05 Cartridges, one Pistol 32 bore with 05 Cartridge, one Desi Katta 315 bore, four magazines, one Splendor Motorcycle and two Scooter (Activa) have been recovered from them. Mr. Swapan Sharma said that during investigations it came into light that the operations of these gangsters extended beyond national borders, with identified links to Suraj, currently residing in England.

 

Giving details of modus operandi of the gang, the Commissioner of Police said that the gang was involved in life-threatening calls and letters to extort money from people. He said that investigations with a major thrust on fetching details about the international number used for extortion calls is already going on.  Mr. Swapan Sharma said that no criminal background of all the eight gangsters have been traced so far but a detailed investigation is already going on.
