Jalandhar's businessman stabbed to death by his son over a property dispute

 A heinous crime has emerged from Jalandhar where a young man stabbed his own father over a land dispute. Reportedly, the incident took place in the Bagh Bahria Mohalla on the late night of October 4. The accused and his younger brother were engaged in a verbal spat at 11 pm, their father stepped into the conversation to resolve the matter but the agitated elder son stabbed him to death with a knife. Also, the accused heavily wounded his younger brother.

On hearing the screams of the family, people gathered around and took the injured father-son to the hospital, where the father succumbed to his injuries. The condition of the younger brother is said to be critical. 

As soon as the news broke out, the police of Police Division number two reached the spot and arrested Jatin alias Sheru, accused of murder in the dead of night, and lodged an FIR against him. It has been said that the accused was in an inebriated state. 

While recording statements with the police, Abhay Nagpal, who was injured by his elder brother said, he works with his father Ashwini Nagpal, and elder brother Jatin Nagpal alias Sherry. They run a catering business under the name of TasteMakers.

He further added that Jatin used to indulge in a tiff with him and his father over petty issues. Late on Sunday night, when Abhay returned home his brother, Jatin started a quarrel with him over land. Eventually, their father tried to pacify the issue but, Jatin stabbed him. When Abhay protested, his agitated brother attacked him too. 

Divulging more details, the deceased's wife Veena said, "I used to say to my children to look after your father who's growing old but, I hadn't dreamt of it that this will happen." She also informed that a few days back, her husband bought a new shop, "Milk Bar" for his sons near Sabzi Mandi Chowk to end up this dispute. Also, in a few days, he was planning to buy a hotel so he can evenly distribute his property among them.
