A teacher of a private school located in Jalandhar Cantt, Punjab has been arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting a 5th class child.
The arrested accused has been identified as Tobias Thapar, a resident of Jalandhar Cantt. Police have registered a case under IPC sections 376 (A) (B), 506, and POCSO Act in the case. The police produced the accused in the court on Tuesday and placed him under police remand for one day.
In her statement to the police, the victim's mother alleged that the piano teacher used to call the girl to the old canteen side of the school every day since March 2023 to December 2023. He then proceeded to do obscene acts with the victims. If she resisted, the accused would threaten the victim by brandishing a knife.
The victim reportedly withheld information from the mother over the fear of the teacher. Due to the ongoing school holidays, the girl started staying at home and revealed the incidents when implored. After this a complaint was immediately made to the police and a case was registered.
The investigating officer of the case, ASI Rajinder Pal, said that the said accused has been arrested from Jalandhar Cantt. area itself. He told that the accused teacher used to teach piano. The matter was reported to the police by the girl's mother after which the case was registered.
