The worker who got stuck in a massive 70-feet-deep borewell after sand fell on him in Punjab's Jalandhar district is yet to be rescued despite continuous efforts. The mishap took place around 12.30 am when a worker named Suresh Kumar along with another technical expert Pawan went into the borewell to free some part of the boring machine, which had got stuck underneath. As per reports, the borewell was dug up for erecting a pillar as part of the Delhi-Katra expressway project. Although other workers came out, Suresh got stuck after sand fell on him. Now, it has been more than 36 hours, and Suresh is yet to be rescued from the borewell. Below is the latest development in the 'Jalandhar worker borewell stuck case'-
As per reports, the rescue team is doing their best to save Suresh. However, the biggest obstacle in the rescue work is a water-filled pond located nearby. The soft soil is falling down again and again. Due to this, it is taking more time. 4 to 5 JCB machines are continuously taking out the soil. So far around 120 tippers have been removed from the soil. NHAI and NDRF teams are constantly trying to get Suresh out, but looking at the current situation, it seems that it may take many more hours to get him out.
Due to the presence of soil & soft sand, the NDRF team is changing its strategy of its rescue work again and again. Earlier late at night, there was information that the NDRF team had reached near Suresh and was about to rescue him, but then it was learned that the team could not rescue him. On Sunday night, an ambulance was also prepared hinting that the NDRF team is about to bring him out, but the operation failed at that time due to a machine breakdown in the middle.
