Ashima hanged herself late on Monday night and Vikas committed suicide by jumping in front of a moving train on the Goraya-Phillaur railway track. The couple was residing at Friends Colony.
The couple had two minor daughters. The exact reasons behind the suicides are yet to be ascertained.
Rajesh Kumar, SHO, police station division No. 1 said according to the Ashima’s parents, couple was not in a good relationship. Vikas was into readymade garment business and was missing since Monday midnight. His phone number was also switched off.

Notably, after Ashima's death, her family members blamed Vikas for the incident, after which case provoking Ashima to commit suicide was lodged against Vikas at Jalandhar's police station division number one. Vikas couldn't bear the trauma and accusation, thus, committed suicide due to which the whole matter has become complicated.
According to the sources, the whole affair is revolving around a Congress leader of the area but at present the police are reluctant to say anything about it. The probe is on.
