Jalandhar’s 16-year-old Girl 'Kusum' felicitated with National Bravery Award

In the latest development, a 16-year-old girl from Jalandhar received bravery awards from the Indian government. The girl during the pandemic lockdown fought with ultimate bravery to catch robbers who tried to flee away after snatching a phone from her. She has been felicitated with National Bravery Award. Reportedly, the Indian government decided to felicitate people with bravery awards for the last three years. As per information, Kusum from Jalandhar City was selected for this award by the Indian Council for Child Welfare (ICCW).

For the unversed, when Kusum, a resident of Nimwan Wali Gali, Fatehpuri Mohalla was returning from her tuition class, suddenly two motorcycle-riding robbers tried to snatch away her mobile phone. Kusum faced the robbers with utmost bravery. Her wrist also got cut during this but she did not give up. In the end, she was successful in getting the phone back from robbers. Reportedly, during the corona epidemic this mobile phone was given to him by his brother for online studies.

Apart from being a taekwondo player, Kusum is also an NCC cadet. While talking about the incident Kusum said, “at that time I did not understand anything but I faced the robbers with courage, due to which I got injured and my hand was treated for a long time. But after that day I got a different identity, everyone calls me ‘The Brave Girl’ and it makes me very proud. I am very happy that I have been awarded the bravery award.”
