Two daysafter reports of cracks in houses around Joshi Hospital, Municipal CommissionerKarnesh Sharma visited the site on Tuesday 29th March along with ateam of officials. After his inspection, the Commissioner said that the plotwhere the excavation was being done by Joshi Hospital was not a part of thebuilding plan approved by MC Jalandhar. He further said that the plan approvedwas for 93 Marlas and the Basement being dug on 12 Marla plot was not a part of93 Marlas plan.

Talkingabout the action, The Commissioner said that the Building Plan approval hasbeen canceled and Hospital authorities asked to fill the plot again. Hefurther told that ATP Vinod and Building Inspector Dinesh Joshi have beenissued a notice seeking their reply on How this all happened and an answer hasbeen demanded within 2 days failing which the officers concerned will be charge-sheeted.

ADCP SuhailMeer and SDM Hardeep Singh Atwal also visited the site on Tuesday as didJalandhar Central MLA Mr. Raman Arora.

To remindour readers, this episode of sheer negligence started with a complaint from RTIactivist Simranjeet Singh when some residential buildings around Joshi Hospitaldeveloped cracks due to, now proved illegal digging of a basement by JoshiHospital.

MrSimranjeet Singh has demanded registration of an FIR under sections 288, 427,268of IPC and section 21 of the mining act against Hospital authorities, MCJ officialsand the Contractor Jabbar Khan.

Everything was said and done but can the authorities explain how and why this illegal act wasgoing on? 80 feet deep basement in a plot measuring 12 marlas can’t be dug in aday and it can’t go unnoticed as the site is at a prime location where there isconsistent traffic even during late hours. Is this all possible without the knowledge and help of Corporation Authorities? And what about Hospitalauthorities? Doctors are considered next to God in our society but putting the lives of people under threat just for their petty gains can never be justified.

Hope our CMMr. Bhagwant Mann will take an action and will not let this matter go unnoticedand unattended.
