Cracks in houses developed due to negligence of Joshi Hospital, Who is responsible for this?

Will CM Bhagwant Mann and his government will take action against the hospital and authorities?

Two days after reports of cracks in houses around Joshi Hospital, Municipal Commissioner Karnesh Sharma visited the site on Tuesday 29th March along with a team of officials. After his inspection, the Commissioner said that the plot where the excavation was being done by Joshi Hospital was not a part of the building plan approved by MC Jalandhar. He further said that the plan approved was for 93 Marlas and the Basement being dug on 12 Marla plot was not a part of 93 Marlas plan.

Talking about the action, The Commissioner said that the Building Plan approval has been canceled and Hospital authorities asked to fill the plot again. He further told that ATP Vinod and Building Inspector Dinesh Joshi have been issued a notice seeking their reply on How this all happened and an answer has been demanded within 2 days failing which the officers concerned will be charge-sheeted.

ADCP Suhail Meer and SDM Hardeep Singh Atwal also visited the site on Tuesday as did Jalandhar Central MLA Mr. Raman Arora.

To remind our readers, this episode of sheer negligence started with a complaint from RTI activist Simranjeet Singh when some residential buildings around Joshi Hospital developed cracks due to, now proved illegal digging of a basement by Joshi Hospital.

Mr Simranjeet Singh has demanded registration of an FIR under sections 288, 427,268 of IPC and section 21 of the mining act against Hospital authorities, MCJ officials and the Contractor Jabbar Khan.

Everything was said and done but can the authorities explain how and why this illegal act was going on? 80 feet deep basement in a plot measuring 12 marlas can’t be dug in a day and it can’t go unnoticed as the site is at a prime location where there is consistent traffic even during late hours. Is this all possible without the knowledge and help of Corporation Authorities? And what about Hospital authorities? Doctors are considered next to God in our society but putting the lives of people under threat just for their petty gains can never be justified.

Hope our CM Mr. Bhagwant Mann will take an action and will not let this matter go unnoticed and unattended.
