Journalist Mitali Chandola, who works with a media company in Noida was driving back home she was overtaken by a Maruti Swift in East Delhi Ashok Nagar. 

When she felt something was not right she tried to pace up but the masked men in the car first threw eggs at the windshield of her i20, to block her sight. When she didn’t stop the group of attackers fired multiple shots at her. The assailants were masked and before she could do anything, they drove away. The incident took place on Saturday around 12:30 am near Dhramshila Narayana Superspeciality Hospital.

“Two masked assailants first threw eggs at the front glass of my car and when I did not stop, they fired two shots at me,” Ms. Chandola as per reports.

Confirming the same, Jasmeet Singh, Deputy Commissioner of Police (East), said,” She has received bullets injuries in the arm and now she is out of danger. At the first impression, it seems to be a case of a family dispute which has soared.

Police said they are delving all the angles of the case including personal enmity. Police are also investigating the role of her husband, who has been living separately. It is also suspected that is there any gang that targets the motorists using eggs to cause a distraction in order to mug them at night.

An investigation is being carried out to identify the attackers; police said that they are looking for CCTV footage is available to establish the series of events that took place.
It is not the first time that this sort of incident took place in the national capital Several similar cases of armed mugging which included egg blinding have been reported.
