Soon after the announcement of Assembly election results,West Bengal witnessed several incidents of violence. Stressed over thehorrific incidents occurring in the state, BJP leader JP Nadda has staged aprotest in Kolkata today when Mamata Banerjee took oath asChief Minister of the state. 

Recently, violence emerged in the state and BJP officeswere torched and houses of many BJP workers were looted. BJP accused TMCworkers of the violence and claimed that nine people lost their lives.Allegedly, TMC goons clashed, assaulted, and killed several people. However,TMC has denied the claims made by BJP and Mamata urged people to maintain peacein the state.

‘Wetake oath to pull down political violence in Bengal. We live in a democratic country and we all have right to choose our representatives' , said JP Nadda.  

Over the incident, the Prime Minister of the country and BJPleader Narendra Modi talked to Bengal Governer and expressed anguish over thedeteriorated law and order in the state. Following this, JP Nadda staged aprotest on May 5. JP Nadda compared post-poll violence in Bengal to partitionatrocities.

“We are committed to democratically fight thisideological battle and the activities of the TMC, which is full ofintolerance,” said JP Nadda. He had also met families of party workers killedin post polls violence.

Earlier, after the results were announced BJP candidateSuvendu Adhikari was attacked and stones were pelted on his vehicle. Lashingout on TMC, Adhikari said that TMC is trying to create an environment of terrorin West Bengal.

West Bengal Assembly Election Results had declared TMC’shistoric victory in elections as the party won by an overwhelming majority.Banerjee took oath as CM on 10.45 in the morning of May 5. The oath-takingceremony took place in a simple manner with only 50 guests due to the Covid19pandemic.

The list of guests invited to the ceremony includedFormer CM Buddhadeb Bhattacharya, Bengal BJP President Dilip Ghosh, CongressState President Adhir Ranjan Chaudhary, and BCCI Chief Sourav Ganguly.
