Soon after the announcement of Assembly election results, West Bengal witnessed several incidents of violence. Stressed over the horrific incidents occurring in the state, BJP leader JP Nadda has staged a protest in Kolkata today when Mamata Banerjee took oath as Chief Minister of the state.

Recently, violence emerged in the state and BJP offices were torched and houses of many BJP workers were looted. BJP accused TMC workers of the violence and claimed that nine people lost their lives. Allegedly, TMC goons clashed, assaulted, and killed several people. However, TMC has denied the claims made by BJP and Mamata urged people to maintain peace in the state.

‘We take oath to pull down political violence in Bengal. We live in a democratic country and we all have right to choose our representatives' , said JP Nadda.

Over the incident, the Prime Minister of the country and BJP leader Narendra Modi talked to Bengal Governer and expressed anguish over the deteriorated law and order in the state. Following this, JP Nadda staged a protest on May 5. JP Nadda compared post-poll violence in Bengal to partition atrocities.
