Kanhaiya Mittal accused of giving ‘hate speech’ against Christians in Ludhiana

The brotherhood alleges that Kanhaiya Mittal, while giving a speech in a religious program organized near Daresi Road a day ago, hurt their sentiments.

In Ludhiana, Punjab, the Christian brotherhood has accused religious singer Kanhaiya Mittal of spreading hate speech against them. The brotherhood alleges that Kanhaiya Mittal, while giving a speech in a religious program organized near Daresi Road a day ago, hurt their sentiments. According to the Christians, religion was being used to promote sentiments favoured by BJP, which is against the Model Code of Conduct. The brother hood claimed that Mittal promoted building more and temples and Gurudwaras but not churches.

 

Giving information, Punjab Christian Leadership Chairman Harjot Sethi said that about 7 months ago, a case was registered against Kanhaiya Mittal in Jalandhar for giving hate speech against the Christian brotherhood. However, the police did not take any action against Mittal. Now again a day ago, during a religious program in Ludhiana, Kanhaiya Mittal has targeted Christianity.

 

Christian brotherhood leader Albert Dua said that an attempt has been made to promote Hindu Rashtra and BJP government through the Election Commission. This stands in violation of the Model Code of Conduct (MCC). He said that he was deeply hurt as the video spreading hatred in the society reached him. He told that while singing the bhajan, Kanhaiya Mittal said that more and more temples should be built in Punjab, more and more Gurudwaras should be built, there is no space to build more and more churches here.
