
The Kapurthala Police on Monday solved the murder case of surveyor and a mysterious robbery which had erupted at Khalsa Super Store in Sultanpur Lodhi.
The Police has arrested arrested mastermind of both these crimes identified as Monu Dhupai and all the members of his criminal gang that shot the surveyor dead in village Ibban and snatched his Balero car a few days back.
The arrested accused has been identified as Harkrishan alias Monu Dhupai, a resident of village Dhupai in Kapurthala, Ranjit Singh alias Jeetu of village Bahmania in Shahkot, Gurpreet Singh alias Gopi of Seadpur in Shahkot and Roopchand alias Kaka of village Bahmania in Shahkot.
Addressing a press conference, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Harkamalpreet Singh Khakh said on November 20, the police received information that some assailants opened fire on a surveyor Balwinder Singh of Kot Dharam Chand village, Tarn Taran, who was working as a surveyor with Land Mark Infra Company in village Ibban and snatched his Bolero (PB 46-AG-1777). SSP said that immediately the police teams were rushed to the crime spot and started the probe.
Khakh said that the criminals asked surveyor Balwinder Singh to give the keys of his car and on his refusal, the accused pumped three bullets into victim and snatched his white Bolero and fled away from the spot.
The SSP said an FIR has been registered in the case criminals under sections 302, 379-B and 34 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) at Sadar Police Station Kapurthala on the statement of eyewitness Gurvinder Singh, brother of deceased Balwinder Singh.
The SSP said that police teams were formed under the supervision of DSP Sultanpur Lodhi Rajesh Kakkar and SHO Sultanpur Lodhi, Sub Inspector Harjit Singh to nab the criminals.
The team achieved great success when on 27-11-2021 Khuswant Singh son of Major Singh resident of Machhijoa Police Station Sultanpur Lodhi recorded his statement that he was sitting at his shop Super Store PUDA Colony Sultanpur Lodhi, at that time 04 robbers came there in Balero car of white color that out of them 03 entered with heavy cache of weapons at his Khalsa store, Urban Estate Sultanpur Lodhi.
One robber who has difficulty in walking was standing outside the store. They had threatened the victim of dire consequences and after robbing 30000/- rupees from his store, fled the place in the Balero car. In this regard, a case FIR No. 306, dated 27-11-2021, under section 379-B and 25-54-59 Arms Act was registered at police station Sultanpur Lodhi, Kapurthala.
Khakh said that the police party was after the accused and have achieved success on 05-12-2021 when the four robbers involved in the incident at Khalsa Super Store Sultanpur Lodhi were arrested from an unoccupied house near village Nasirewal. and one of the robbers who was on the roof of the house. He was lying on the floor when the police party started to arrest him by climbing the stairs. He saw the police party and started fleeing. When the police tried to catch him, he hurriedly jumped from the roof of the house, as a result his right leg was badly injured.
During raid the police have recovered 02 country Made Pistols (.32 Bore), 04 magazines and 16 live cartridges from the possession of the accused.
The preliminary interrogation, the SSP said revealed that Harkrishan alias Monu Dhupai and his associates have confessed to the crime and told the police that on 20-11-2021 he shot dead the surveyor working at village Dhapai, police station Sadar Kapurthala. The looters asserted that they robbed Khalsa Super Store at Sultanpur Lodhi, in the snatched Balero car and escaping police arrested they fled to Hazur Sahib. While doing so, the vehicle had an accident with a tipper and due to severe damage to the vehicle Balero they left it nearby Jhansi bypass and fled. Due to the accident, Ranjit Singh Jitu's left arm was injured and he returned to Punjab. They were again trying to snatch a vehicle but in the meantime the police party apprehended them. Harkrishan Singh was admitted to Civil Hospital Sultanpur Lodhi for treatment as he was injured during the arrest.
SSP said Harkrishan Singh alias Monu Dhupai is a hardcore criminal, and indulged into many robberies and murders. He has dozen of criminal cases registered against him at different police stations. He has also indulged in drug trade. He admitted that he had bought both the pistols from UP for Rs. 40/40 thousand each.
He said that the arrested accused would be produced before the local magistrate and police remand would be sought to investigate the case, which is likely to lead to further revelations.
