The Gangster-Singer nexus debate was yet again sparked after famous Punjabi singer Karan Aujla's video singing at a reception in Bakersfield, California went viral on social media. In the video, Karan Aujla was seen performing in front of a group of people along with another Punjabi singer Sharry Mann, however, it was the presence of fugitive Anmol Bishnoi, the brother of notorious gangster Lawrence Bishnoi that sparked a row. For the unversed, Anmol Bishnoi is wanted in connection with the Sidhu Moosewala murder case. Sidhu Moosewala, a popular Punjabi singer, was gunned down in a Mansa village in May 2022. Since then, police have been on the lookout for those responsible for the crime. While there are many who are already in Police custody, gangster Lawrence Bishnoi's brother Anmol is yet to be arrested. Now, coming back to Karan Aujla's viral video with Lawrence Bishnoi's brother, the Punjabi Singer on Wednesday issued a detailed statement on his Instagram story. Below is what he wrote-

"I didn't think I needed to but after seeing so many posts and messages I just want to clarify about an event on Sunday in Bakersfield, CA. As artists myself and Sharry Maan bai were booked to perform for a reception show as requested by our common friend. As an artist, we are not aware who is atttending or invited to the wedding shows we are booked for, hence why I prefer not to do many wedding shows at all. It has been brought to my attention that a questionable individual was in the background of videos of me and sharry bai performing. I was not aware of whom that may be until saw these posts and messages. As an artist I focus on my performance and leave the shows, I do not notice each and every person as there are many people around. I would also like to state there were many cameras and phones constantly recording and usually are where I am. I would never knowingly attend or associate myself with anything as such. Please, as a humble request, don't involve me in these things. As an artist, you are already going through many things as you all know now and it would be a humble request not to complicate things more. Hope this clears the mater." wrote Karan Aujla.

It is pertinent to mention here that after the murder of Sidhu Moose Wala, the Punjabi music industry came under the scanner of security agencies over its nexus with Gangsters. Gangster Lawrence Bishnoi in an interview with ABP News from jail stated that the Punjabi singer was meddling against his gang along with politicians and therefore his associate Goldy Brar executed him. Shubhdeep Singh Sidhu, who was popularly known as Sidhu Moosewala, was shot dead in Mansa on May 29 last year. He joined the Congress in December 2021, when Sidhu was the president of the party's Punjab unit, and he described the singer as a "youth icon." He also contested the 2022 Punjab Assembly polls from the Mansa seat on a Congress ticket. Since last year, Moosewala's family has been seeking justice for their son, and they even sat on a protest outside the Punjab Assembly complex last month.
