After months of social media trolling and accusations, filmmaker Karan Johar on Thursday broke his silence on Kangana Ranaut's viral remarks on him regarding nepotism. During the Koffee with Karan Season 5, Kangana Ranaut called Karan Johar a 'flagbearer of nepotism' and compared him to a movie mafia. During the latest episode of Koffee with Karan Season 8, Karan Johar opened up on the nepotism debate after Ajay Devgn openly supported him on his show. Below is what Karan Johar and Ajay Devgn said-

During the show, Ajay Devgn said, "See, actually you got to see. I mean today you go to social media and read so many things. I am sorry to say nepotism and things like that. But people don't realize that generations have worked and worked very hard. To reach till here it's not an easy story that he's the son of..."

Karan replies, "I laugh Ajay. My father, who's no more, he would have had the biggest laugh if he read that they call me the flag-bearer of nepotism. My father has had such a tough time to be where he was."

Ajay replies, "Exactly, all of them have.

Karan continues, "He was a production controller and he became a producer. So many of his films failed, one after the other. He mounted films, but they failed. I remember my mum selling jewelry, selling my granny's apartment. And now we don't talk about this because right now everyone is looking at the person today. But I I remember the struggle behind."

The nepotism debate first sparked in Bollywood when Kangana lashed out at Karan Johar during Koffee with Karan Season 5 and called him the flag-bearer of nepotism. Following that the nepotism debate intensified after the death of Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput. Karan Johar was accused of favoring star kids in place of deserved actors.
