Karan-Oberoi MenToo Rape

A session court on Friday rejected a bail plea filed by actor Karan Oberoi, 47, in a rape and extortion case filed against him by a 34-year-old tantric and healer. The actor reportedly got broke down in the court after he heard the allegations.

Former Bollywood actress, Pooja Bedi, had urged the public to join the #mentoo movement expressing her anger over her friend Karan Oberoi arrest for rape and extortion on May 5.

Taking the issue to twitter she stated that it is time to defend the reputation, rights and families of men, accused on false charges of rape and work towards keeping the specifications of the alleged as a secret until proven guilty of rape.

In the last few days Karan family and friends had been rallying around in his support. Karan and the complainant met on a dating app at the end of 2016, and the 47 years old actor already had filed a case against the woman for harassment in October of 2018.

Karan was taken into judicial custody on May 9 by Oshiwara police to Taloja jail. The women have put serious allegations of false promise of marriage and several circumstances of financial help to Karan as a future husband. She claimed that the rape took place in 2017.

And when questioned about her delay in filing the FIR she said “It is not possible that a woman will file a case against her future husband”.

The FIR alleges that actor made a video of the woman while she was unconscious and five demands were made which includes fridge and a Mac book and only then he would delete the video.

Oberio lawyer put a strong argument about the messages shown as evidences against Oberio calling them vague as she indented to manipulate the messages to cover up her mistakes, however, Oberoi plea of bail was put to hold.
