While announcing the expansion of the Dostana franchise Karan Johar revealed the names of the movie’s lead actors-Kartik Aaryan, Janhvi Kapoor, and Debut actor Lakshya. The scenes from the movie which were to be shot in India were shot in 2019 but in 2020 the shoot was halted in view of the coronavirus pandemic. A source close to Karan Johar production revealed that Kartik Aaryan has been fired from Dostana 2 due to the actor’s ‘unprofessional behavior’.
A website peepingmoon.com reports that Dharma production has decided never to work with Kartik again. Half of the shoot for Dostana was already completed and it is very uncommon for any production house to drop a prominent actor midway through the shoot. The movie’s next schedule had to be shot in London. The source also revealed that the constant delays made by the actor pushed the production house to take this step. “he promised to complete the film multiple times over the last few months but backed out at the last minute giving various reasons. The sudden cancellation of shoot from his end resulted in date diary of everyone else from the cast of Dostana going haywire”, the source revealed.

Karan Johar and director Collin D Cunha have now made up their mind to put an end to this tussle hence they took such a drastic step. Reports also suggest that actress Janhvi Kapoor was also shooting for Mr. Lele opposite Vicky Kaushal and Bhumi Pednekar. The rescheduling of Dostana 2 made it difficult for the actress to shoot for either of the films.
