The spy-thriller Kathmandu Connection is all set to return on OTT with its second season after almost a year. The season 1 of Kathmandu Connection was a big hit after which people can’t wait to witness what happens in its second season. Kathmandu Connection season 2 will star Amit Sial, Gopal Datt, and Aksha Pardasany. This time, Bollywood actor Prashant Narayanan will also be part of this famous series. As per the makers, Kathmandu Connection S2 is based on the aftermath of the infamous 1999 IC-814 hijack incident. The series also sees a portrayal of India’s most wanted gangster Dawood Ibrahim.

Kathmandu Connection Season 1 was released on April 23, 2021 and its second season will be exclusively available on Sony Liv releasing on 23rd December 2022. The teaser of Kathmandu Connection Season 2 reveals an officer receiving a phone call from a person saying that he is working on the 1999 IC-814 hijack conspiracy theory. Bollywood actor, Prashant Narayan is playing the character of Wajid which is said to be based on India’s most wanted gangster of all time Dawood Ibrahim.

Talking about the storyline of the film, a woman named Shivani Bhatnagar who works in London in a media company comes across some top-secret documents which are directly related to the hijacking of IC-814 and could pose a threat to India's national security. Shivani then goes to Kathmandu to meet a prisoner named Sunny Sharma and takes his assistance to reveal the real conspiracy that happened.

As per information, Kathmandu Connection S2 is based on a true story of the aftermath of the infamous 1999 IC-814 hijack. During the hijacking 27 of 176 passengers in Dubai, fatally stabbed one and wounded several others. The motive for the hijacking was to secure the release of terrorists held in prison in India – fellow HuM members Ahmed Omar Saeed Sheikh and Masood Azhar, and a Kashmiri militant, Mushtaq Ahmed Zargar. The three have since been implicated in other terrorist actions, such as the 2001 Indian Parliament attack, the 2002 kidnapping, and murder of Daniel Pearl, the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks, the 2016 Pathankot attack, and the 2019 Pulwama attack.
