Is season 2 based on real-life incidents?
The Bengal Chapter is not a real-life story, showing real incidents, unlike the first chapter - Khakee: The Bihar Chapter.
However, the second season highlights the real-life political and criminal situation in Kolkata, West Bengal. Another side, which covers gang wars and police corruption, is also outlined in this part of the web series.
The Bengal Chapter -
During the trailer launch of season 2, Neeraj Pandey talked about this new chapter and stated, “The world of Khakee has always been about larger-than-life conflicts, high-stakes drama, and nuanced characters that redefine the lines between good and evil. With Khakee: The Bengal Chapter, we take this intensity to a new level. Set against the vivid backdrop of Kolkata, this chapter delves into gripping power struggles and follows a relentless IPS officer who dares to challenge the system. The entire ensemble cast has delivered exceptional performances, ensuring that Khakee: The Bengal Chapter is an evolution of the beloved narrative,” according to reports by the New Indian Express.
Along with this, Prosenjit Chatterjee mentioned that this experience in Khakee: The Bengal Chapter, was something very unique and he had not played such a character earlier. He was quoted saying, “Even I have seen the trailer for the first time today. In the last 14-15 years, I have been trying to do something different, and I don’t know if it’s right or wrong. For this character, when Neeraj Sir first called me, I said yes. Later, I got to know what the character was. I have played lots of different characters. Once, I also called Jeet and asked him to give me a character that gave me sleepless nights. There is no character I have not tried in the last 40 years. But this was something I had never played earlier. This was a challenge for me in terms of the preparations. We are the kind of actors who still go on set and try to execute the director’s vision. Everyone thinks I am a politician in this show, but we shall only find out on March 20. I have seen a lot of politicians closely in my life, but I didn’t latch on to any character or impersonate anyone. I have tried my best. Khakee is teamwork. The Bihar chapter is a hit, so there was pressure on us.”
