Rampal Jat, leader of Kisan Mahapanchayat on Thursday announced that his organisation will vacate the Shahjahanpur protest site in wake of the Republic Day violence, a day after the Rashtriya Kisan Mazdoor Sangathan and the Bharatiya Kisan Union (Bhanu) withdrew from the farmers protest at Delhi borders

“We had disassociated ourselves from Samyukt Kisan Morcha on January 21 but were supporting the protest. Now, we’ll support the movement after analysing every step. We’ve decided to vacate the protest site at Shahjahanpur (Rajasthan-Haryana border),” Jat said.

Protesting farmers went on a rampage during the tractor parade in Delhi. Protesters in the group ran amok on the streets attacking police with spears and swords, tried running a tractor over police, vandalising public property, including the iconic Red Fort.

Many farmer leaders alleged that their agitation was infiltrated and perpetrators tried to derail their peaceful protest.

Demanding a proper investigation, the Kisan Mahapanchyat leader said, “The person who took responsibility for the Red Fort incident on January 26 has not been arrested. It shows that this is the government’s conspiracy. The matter should be investigated.”

25 FIRs have been registered against over 30 of the 40 farm union leaders who were involved in talks with the government.

Rakesh Tikait, Darshan Pal, Rajinder Singh, Balbir Singh Rajewal, Buta Singh Burjgil, Yogendra Yadav, Medha Patkar and Joginder Singh Ugraha have been named in the FIRs for breaching the agreement on the R-Day tractor rally routes and other guidelines.
