Now the Indian case is similar to the one Google faced in Europe, where regulators imposed a $5 billion fine on the company for forcing manufacturers to pre-install its apps on Android devices.

The regulators in India found that Google is facing the same issues that it faced in Europe. Google is misusing its dominance in India.

Google is forcing the companies by seizing the chances to use an alternative app to Google. Under India competition law, Google is imposing the unfair conditions on the manufactures by its restrictions.

Reportedly the Competition Commission of India has already launched a probe against Google in April for its abuse of Android commanding position to block the rivals.
Google through its restrictions of pre-installation “reduced the ability and incentive of device manufacturers to develop and sell devices operated on alternate versions of Android,”

“It amounts to prima facie leveraging of Google dominance.” Said the Competition Commission of India. In response, Google said that the Android had entitled many Indians to connect to the internet through Google and it also made the Android more affordable.

It also mentioned that Google is looking forward to work with the Competition Commission of India “to demonstrate how Android has led to more competition and innovation, not less”, said Google.

On April 16 the Competition Commission of India called for a wider probe against Google and now the watchdog investigation can only make things clear if anything wrong has seriously committed by Google.

In India, over 90 percent of Android smartphones use Google. Last year the Competition Commission of India also fined Google of Rs 136 crore on Google for search bias.

But Google stood against the apple stating that it can cause “irreparable” reputational harm for the company and the apple is on hold in the Indian tribunal.
