Several Political upheavals have ensued over these 5 years since the Lok Sabha elections in 2019. Many of the MPs whom the public sent to Parliament as their voice in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections are now contesting this year's elections with a chip on their shoulder due to their turbulent tenure. Some went to Parliament with enthusiasm but with their voices mute failing to raise pertinent questions.

There are some MPs whose attendance in Parliament was close to negligible. The Gurdaspur MP (Sunny Deol) did not participate in even a single debate of the House with a similar usage of funds. While sitting MP of Sri Anandpur Sahib, Manish Tiwari was the most attentive MP during his tenure, with similary impressive expenditure of funds.

During the 5-year tenure of the 17th Lok Sabha, MP funds worth Rs 116.08 crores were released to all 13 MPs of Punjab. Only about Rs 93 crores of the total were spent however, according to reports. About 23 crore 17 lakh MP funds were saved. At the same time, after the death of Congress MP from Jalandhar Santokh Choudhary, by-elections were held in November where Sushil Rinku from Aam Aadmi Party was the victor. However due to the short tenure left, no funds were released to the current Jalandhar MP.

By-elections were held on Sangrur seat, which became vacant after MP Bhagwant Mann became the Chief Minister. Then SAD(A) chief Simranjit Singh Mann won. According to the remaining tenure, he was released Rs 1.81 crore on becoming MP but he spent only Rs 52 lakh. 2.2504 crores were left out of the MP fund he received. At the same time, Bhagwant remained at second position because he resigned before the completion of his tenure. MP fund of Rs 5.38 crore was released to him, out of which he spent Rs 2.70 crore.
