₹40 lakh robbery at HDFC bank in Kapurthala: Robbers flee with cash, police investigate

ASHISH PURI, May 30, Kapurthala: 

A major robbery took place at gunpoint in the HDFC Bank located on the Hoshiarpur Highway in the sub-division Phagwara village Rehana Jattan of Kapurthala. Sources told that rovers when entered in the bank pointed pistols at bank employees and threatened to shoot them and asked them to take out the money kept in the lockers.

Following the incident, a police team led by SSP Gaurav Toora reached the spot and started an investigation. CCTV footage from the surrounding areas is being examined.

 According to initial sources, three robbers on a vehicle arrived and looted approximately ₹40 lakhs at gunpoint.

The senior superintendent of police Gaurav Toora stated that as soon as information about the robbery was received, police initiated an investigation at the scene. The robbers came in a vehicle and were armed. He also mentioned that the exact amount looted has not yet been confirmed by the bank. As soon as it is clarified, further information will be shared.
