Lathi charge on AAP workers who reached Haryana CM's house; 4 Punjab ministers detained in Chandigarh

On Friday, AAP workers reached Kurukshetra, Haryana to ‘gherao’ the residence of CM Nayab Saini.

There has been a political uproar after the arrest of Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) supremo Arvind Kejriwal as several AAP and Congress leaders came out to protest against his arrest in Chandigarh and Haryana. On Friday, AAP workers reached Kurukshetra, Haryana to ‘gherao’ the residence of CM Nayab Saini.

 

The police were already deployed here to monitor the situation however when tensions escalated, the police used water cannon on the workers followed by a lathicharge. AAP leader Anurag Dhanda is reported to have suffered a severe head injury. Sushil Gupta was also injured. Both the leaders have been taken to the government hospital for treatment.

 

DSP Ramkumar was also injured in this clash. Seeing the situation, Kurukshetra SP Surendra Bhauria reached the spot. The police have chased away the workers. When AAP leaders and supporters from Mohali moved towards Chandigarh, they were stopped by the police at the Chandigarh border.

 

Here the workers climbed the barricades erected by the police. After which the police used water cannon and mild force on them. During this, the police detained many MLAs including four Punjab ministers Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal, Aman Arora and Lal Chand Kataruchak.
