Leader in global wind energy launches new products, Prime Minister Narendra Modi agrees with its visions

Vestas, an international company contributing 22.1% of global wind power, wants to partner in India’s renewable energy extraction

India is the world’s fourth largest wind energy market. Also, the demand in the nation in expected to double with the Indian government planning to add about 100 GW wind power by 2030.

Vestas has introduced a low-wind variant suited for India's wind market and expands its production footprint in the country. The new turbine is globally applicable, with an initial focus on low and ultra-low wind condition projects in India and America.

Some positive Tweets were exchanged between the Prime Minister and the President and CEO of Vestas, Henrik Anderson.

"Had an insightful interaction with Mr. Henrik Andersen, President and CEO, @Vestas . We discussed a series of issues relating to the wind energy sector. Highlighted some of India's efforts to harness renewable energy in order to build a cleaner future for the coming generations," PM Modi tweeted on Tuesday.

"Great talk with Hon'ble PM @narendramodi on innovative ideas that can push the envelope in the #energytransition. Very insightful and we are very much looking forward to a continued collaboration and increased footprint in India", Anderson said in a tweet.

"We're thankful to be able to exchange ideas and ambitions with you, Prime Minister, as you are equally committed to building a more #sustainablefuture. Today we're launching the V155 turbine as a first step towards this," the company tweeted.

In a development that will be music to ears of local skilled personnel in the field of wind power, the turbine will be predominantly locally manufactured and sourced in India. Chennai will see a new convertor factory, while the current factory in Ahmedabad will be expanded. Also, the previously announced hub and nacelle factory is under construction in Chennai.

From all these, additional 1,000 new individuals will be provided livelihood together with 2,600 people already working for the company in India. The aims are not only to serve the growing local wind market in India, but also use India as a manufacturing hub for exports.
