Vestas has introduced a low-wind variant suited for India'swind market and expands its production footprint in the country. The newturbine is globally applicable, with an initial focus on low and ultra-low windcondition projects in India and America.

In a development that will be music to ears of local skilledpersonnel in the field of wind power, the turbine will be predominantly locallymanufactured and sourced in India. Chennai will see a new convertor factory,while the current factory in Ahmedabad will be expanded. Also, the previously announcedhub and nacelle factory is under construction in Chennai.
From all these, additional 1,000 new individuals will beprovided livelihood together with 2,600 people already working for the companyin India. The aims are not only to serve the growing local wind market inIndia, but also use India as a manufacturing hub for exports.
