After the happy news of the successful K-Pop girl group TWICE renewing their 7-year contract as an entire group on 12th July 2022, the fans of the group also known as Onces are well-fed with more opportunities for the members to get solo activities outside their group. The oldest member of the group Nayeon took the industry by storm with her eponymous mini-album Im Nayeon with the single Pop! which shook the Korean charts and K-Pop industry due to its catchy hook and visually stunning music video. Following this, their agency JYP Entertainment decided to cash on this opportunity to bring the much-celebrated Japanese members Mina, Momo, and Sana to the forefront with their official Japanese subunit debut announced back in February on the date of 26th July 2023 12am JST with the mini-album Masterpiece.

The concept photos and tracklist released were received positively by the netizens as the former were able to show the elegant charm and beauty the trinity possesses and the latter has songwriting credits from the members themselves with Momo, Mina, and Sana contributing to the songs Funny Valentine, It's Not Easy for You and Rewind You respectively. Another factor that raised expectations is the writing credits from the group's founder JY Park for the mini album for the title track Do Not Touch. For the uninitiated, the veteran singer-producer-songwriter is also responsible for hit songs in TWICE's discography like What is Love, Feel Special, and Alcohol-Free with the first one being their most-viewed music video of all time.

As a surprise, the teaser for the pre-release single of the album Marshmallow was put out on 15th June 12am JST. The teaser showcased the three beautiful and talented members Momo, Sana and Mina as an intern, influencer and part-timer respectively, promosing a visually diverse music video. The music video for the pre-release single will be released on 16th June on their official Japan Youtube channel.

TWICE is a nine-member girl group formed on 20th October 2015 through the survival show Sixteen and they have been on an unstoppable rampage since then. They are one of the most successful Asian girl groups in the world right now with countless achievements in USA, Japan and South Korea, armoured with an addictive, diverse and earworm discography spannning 3 languages- Korean, Japanese and English and plethora of non-music variety content where they get to show their distinct humour and charms and kindhearted personalities. This subunit project is another dream come true for the fans and will further cement TWICE as a force to be reckoned with.
