A leopard rescued by forest officials from Punjab Chandigarh was released on March 30. It was reportedly rescued from the sector 5 locality of Chandigarh.
Gaffar, an experienced leader of the Chandigarh wildlife rescued the leopard who had entered into verandah of house no. 68, Sector 5.

Hours later when the team from Chhatbir zoo, led by senior veterinary officer, M P Singh and veterinary assistant Ram Dev had tranquilised the leopard, a surge of officials and staff wanted to carry the comatose leopard, knowing well that the 50-odd mediapersons would be training their cameras on them. But Singh assigned the honour to Gaffar in recognition of his having laid the foundations for a smooth tranquilisation, the prerequisite for which was that the leopard should not find an escape route. Singh was himself cool and confident. He had conducted 14 successful leopard rescues in the past, including the famous one from an IAF underground pipe in 2012, and this one would prove to be one of the best without any injury suffered by man or beast.
