Liquor and meat shops to remain closed on Nagar Kirtan route (November 25)

He said that the decision had been taken on the account of the religious importance of the International Nagar Kirtan.

In view of the Nagar Kirtan organized to mark the Parkash Purab of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji, District Magistrate (DM) cum Deputy Commissioner Vishesh Sarangal has ordered that all meat and liquor shops falling on its route will remain closed (November 25).

Exercising the powers vested under Section 144, Code of Criminal Procedure (CRPC), 1973  District Magistrate has ordered that all the liquor and meat shops on the route will remain shut. 

He said that the decision had been taken on the account of the religious importance of the International Nagar Kirtan.
Sarangal added that the opening of the meat and liquor shops on the route could create major law and order problems by hurting the religious sentiments.
