Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh on Wednesday announced the extension of curfew in the state by two weeks after May 3, while unveiling steps for the limited lifting of the lockdown restrictions from Thursday in the non-containment and non-red zones with strict adherence to Covid-19 safety protocols.
After the extension of curfew by Punjab CM, many people are still confused about the relaxation as Jalandhar comes under the red zone i.e. hotspot of Punjab, however not every place in the red zone is a containment zone. Clarifying this Satish Chandra, Additional Chief Secretary of Home Affairs and Justice Department said that the relaxation from lockdown will be given to red zones but not to the containment zones.
Jalandhar has become the biggest coronavirus hotspot of Punjab. Till Wednesday evening, Jalandhar registered 86 positive cases. In Jalandhar city, a total of 18 containment zones have been made till now.
