Talking about the United States of America, Northern Wisconsin has been witnessing an unusual sight for past many days. Northern Wisconsin which is experiencing extreme cold weather has now started a mysterious sighting of 'Loon Fallout'. Meaning, Northern Wisconsin has been witnessing the crashing down of flying migratory birds on its territory, and the scientists are indeed puzzled over the incident. To be precise, Loons are migratory birds and for the past few days, they have been falling down on the grounds while flying on the land of Northern Wisconsin. The phenomenon has been called Loon Fallout in the US and the birds are lying down helplessly in ditches, ponds, cow sheds, and even in pastures. Now, the question arises why Northern Wisconsin is witnessing Loon Fallout? To know the answer continue reading-

Why the US is witnessing Loon Fallout?

As per American media reports, Loon Fallout alarm was first flagged by the Raptor Education Group in Wisconsin in order to create awareness of the 'falling birds' among the Americans. The Raptor Education Group in Wisconsin stated that they were getting multiple calls to rescue Loons who were stranded in multiple places after they allegedly fell down when they were flying. The Raptor Education Group stated that the reason behind Loon Fallout is freezing cold weather conditions which is actually freezing the flying birds as well. Although there are conspiracy theories that some birds might have fallen accidentally, the Education group refuted it saying that there are not only one or two birds that have fallen, Loon which has fallen are in multiple dozens. Furthermore, they explained that Loon Fallout occurs when atmospheric conditions are too cold. And while flying Loons develop ice on their body as they fly at high altitudes and crash-land when they are no longer able to fly due to the weight of the ice on their body or the interference with their flight ability. It is pertinent to mention here that Lons cannot walk and the legs of the loon are placed at the bird's back so that they can swim and not walk. The birds cannot fly from small ponds as a quarter mile or more open water is needed by the bird to run across and fly.

American react to Northern Wisconsin Loons Fallout

A user wrote, "Loons cannot walk! They will need your help," Migratory birds, frozen by the cold snap hitting America's Midwest, have suddenly started dropping from the sky and are lying helplessly in ponds, fields, and cow pastures"

Another user posted a video with a caption, "Science break.A recent "loon fallout" has has kept the Raptor Education Group staff busy tending for these birds. Loons can not walk and they need a 1/4 of a mile of open space to take flight. Their inability to fly is similar to icing of airplane wings."

"Loons are the only birds to have solid bones, which is why they need such a long runway to get airborne." explained another user.
