Bollywood actress Yami Gautam is back with a bang after her A Thursday movie. Yami Gautam starrer film named Lost was finally released on the OTT platform Zee5 on February 16, 2023. Like her previous movie, Yami Gautam has yet again chosen a women-centric film in which has played the character of a journalist who is a crime reporter. The movie Lost stars Yami Gautam in the lead with Pankaj Kapur, Rahul Khanna, Neil Bhoopalam, Pia Bajpiee, and Tushar Pandey in supporting roles. Notably, Lost had its world premiere at the Chicago South Asian Film Festival on September 22, 2022, and it had its Asian premiere at the 53rd International Film Festival of India, Goa. Directed by Aniruddha Roy Chowdhury, Lost is inspired by a true story that revolves around a crime reporter named Vidhi Sahani played by Yami Gautam who has learned about the missing case of a young boy, Ishan Bharti (Tushar Pandey). Notably, ever since it has been released, Aniruddha Roy Chowdhury's Lost has been compared to the Vidya Balan starrer movie Kahani which was released in 2012. While in Kahani, Vidya Balan was searching for her lost husband, in Lost, Yami Gautam ( Vidhi Sahani) is searching for a lost boy. Who is Vidhi Sahani?
The makers of Lost have endorsed Yami Gautam starrer movie as 'inspired by true event'. However, they have not pin pointed out any particular case. For those who are yet to watch the movie, Lost is the story of a journalist, Vidhi Sahani (Yami Gautam), who has learned about the missing case of a young boy, Ishan Bharti (Tushar Pandey). However, he is then tagged as a member of a radical group and as Vidhi gets deeper into the story, the mystery darkens. With his relationship with Ankita Chauhan (Pia Bajpayee) being kept out of the investigation and her links with politician Varman (Rahul Khanna), the question arises if Ishan had indeed joined a radical group or if he had been kidnapped for personal and political gains.
The movie Lost raises some very important questions and answers those without really spoon-feeding them. This is also achieved with the character played by Pankaj Kapur. He plays Yami's Nanu. Besides showcasing a beautiful relationship between the grandfather and the granddaughter, his character is also the voice of reason, the one who leads Vidhi towards a solution without really taking her there.
