Lucknow: Fire breaks out in Hazratganj's Levana Hotel, 15 injured and 4 dead; CM orders probe

A massive fire outbreak at Hotel Levana in Lucknow’s Hazaratganj claimed four lives and left 15 others injured this morning. As many as 15 fire tenders and 13 ambulances were rushed to the spot as the efforts to dowse the fire remain underway.

The incident left many guests and staff members of the hotel trapped inside and were helped by the emergency fire fighting squad who broke the glass windows for their rescue. As the report is filed the operation to get people out safe.

As the reports surfaced the fire broke out on the third floor of the hotel. At least 35-40 people were inside when the smoke out of the fire was spotted early this morning.

The injured were admitted to the Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Civil Hospital in Lucknow where they are being treated for serious burn injuries and where the bodies of the dead are placed.

“Ten people who were injured were brought to the hospital, and their treatment is underway. The administration will apprise about the casualties," said Manoj Agarwal, Chief Medical Officer, Lucknow.

As per the Lucknow DM, Suryapal Gangwar the fire is suspected to have been caused due to a short circuit, however, there is no conclusive statement released from the official and individuals involved in the matter.

Chief Minister Yogi Aditynath expressed his segment of grief on the incident besides directing the district administration to carry out all sorts of necessary operations. Along with the necessary assistance to the injured.

“The incident of fire in a hotel in the capital Lucknow is very sad. The concerned officers have been directed to reach the spot immediately and conduct relief and rescue operations expeditiously and provide all possible help to the affected. Praying to lord Ram for the speedy recovery of the injured," the Chief Minister said in a Tweet.

CM of the state has also directed the Commissioner of Lucknow division and the city police to launch an investigation into the matter and reach a consensus on the fire incident as early as possible and met the injured in the hospital.

Lucknow MP and Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh also poured in his share of thoughts over the incident. He informed through his tweets that his office is in continuous touch with the concerned officials and was seeking updates on the matter.
