On the directions of Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit SinghChanni, the district administration held a first Suwidha camp at Sewa Kendra inDistrict Administrative Complex on Thursday.
As many as 1268 applications were received from people forvarious programs.
A total of 1032 applications were received from the peoplefor availing the waive off electricity bills' arrears upto 2 KW load, 177 werefor various kind of pensions and others.
Additional Deputy Commissioner (D) Amit Kumar Panchal alongwith SDM Jagdeep Sehgal visited the camp and interacted with the people.
Panchal said that it was an opportunity for the people toget the benefit of several schemes under one roof without needing to visitdifferent offices.
He informed that these camps would prove a boon for theunderprivileged sections by offering benefits of various schemes.
He also appealed the people to avail benefit of mega SuvidhaCamps to be held at district and sub-division level on October 28 and 29.
