In a major development, under the guidance of the DCST Ludhiana, Darvir Raj Kaur & a team of ACST Ludhiana comprising state tax officers and supporting staff inspected a Cafe located in Gokul Enclave,  Ludhiana, named 'Elizabeth-3'. As per the information received, the inspection was done on the basis of the 'Bill Layo Inam Pao scheme' where consumers uploaded the bills from that cafe.

The sales tax department came to action after detecting that the dealer had not been paying any taxes since the last more than six months. Scrutiny of returns has been carried on by the department based on the information uploaded by the general public, resulting in curbing tax evasion and plugging revenue leakage. It is an ongoing hand-in-hand exercise of the public and the department.

For the unversed, 'Bill Layo Inam Pao' is an exclusive initiative by the Punjab government to encourage people to collect bills from dealers after purchasing goods. This scheme helps make the consumers aware to get the bill from the dealers at the time of the purchase. It has been proven helpful for the Department of GST, and also for the ripple effect of the scheme that has led to a rise in the billing and eventually the State Taxes.
