A massive explosion took place inside a court complex in Punjab's Ludhiana on Thursday. The blast has caused an atmosphere of chaos in poll-bound Punjab. Intelligence agencies issued three alerts this year regarding terror activities to be executed by Pakistan’s ISI and pro-Khalistan group in crowded areas of Punjab.

The alerts were issued on July 7, December 9 and December 23 i.e., on the day of the blast.

As per the information, the explosion is said to have occurred at around 12:22 p.m. in a bathroom on the building's second floor.

After the preliminary investigation, it was revealed that this blast might have been executed by a human bomb. The deceased whose body was found in the Court’s washroom was the prime suspect of the blast. A good quantity of high-grade explosives has been used in the blast.

Punjab has become a more sensitive area. Earlier, Punjab Police on December 2 recovered a chunk of four hand grenades and one Tiffin bomb concealed in a sack recovered from village Salempur Araiyan of the border district.

Apart from this bomb blast in Ludhiana, the state also witnessed sacrilege incidents in Golden Temple, Amritsar and in Kapurthala.

Terming the Ludhiana bomb blast incident as the most shocking and dastardly act, the Punjab Chief Minister Mr. Charanjit Singh Channi on Thursday said that forces inimical to vitiate the peaceful atmosphere in the state would never succeed in their nefarious designs with a sole motive to destabilize the state.

Giving directions to the Police authorities to carry on a detailed investigation to get into the bottom of this cowardly and inhuman act, CM Channi reiterated his firm commitment to book the perpetrators of this heinous crime and give them an exemplary punishment as a deterrent for others not to commit such crime in future. CM Channi said that any such attempt to disturb the law and order situation in the state will be dealt with sternly.
