Ludhiana MC Election: 8 high profile wards & candidates fighting polls

The countdown for the much-awaited Punjab Municipal Council Elections has begun and political parties have almost finalised the names of their candidates along with ward numbers. The last date for filing the nomination to fight the MC Elections is December 12. Hence, the parties have released the list of candidates for Ludhiana as well as other cities' municipal corporation elections. Notably, 8 high-profile wards in Ludhiana are witnessing big names going against each other on the poll ground. Below is the list of 8 wards and their candidates- 

1. Dr. Sukhchain Bassi, wife of AAP MLA Gurpreet Gogi is contesting from Ward 61. Shivani Kashyap, wife of Kushagra Kashyap from BJP, and Parminder Kaur, wife of Inderjit Singh Indi, close to former minister Bharat Bhushan, from Congress are also in the fray. SAD has given the ticket to Achala Bhanot, wife of Advocate Amandeep Bhanot on this seat. There are 13 thousand voters in this ward.
2. Aman Khurana, son of AAP MLA Madanlal Bagga is contesting from Ward 94. Here BJP has fielded Anita Sharma, wife of Kulbhushan and Congress has fielded Resham Singh Nat. There are 14500 voters in this ward.
3. AAP MLA Kulwant Siddh's son Yuvraj is in the fray from Ward 50. BJP has given ticket to Neeru Sharma, wife of Chander Mohan Sharma against him. There are 11,500 voters in this ward.
4. AAP MLA Ashok Parashar Pappi's wife Meenu Parashar is contesting from Ward 77. Here BJP has fielded Poonam Ratra, wife of late Omprakash Ratra. After the death of Omprakash Ratra, his wife was considered certain to get the ticket. There are 9500 voters in this ward.
5. Mamta Ashu is contesting on Congress ticket from Ward 60. Part of Mamta Ashu's ward was added to another ward and the category of her ward was changed to SC. Due to this, she has changed the ward. BJP has given ticket to Jatinder Kumar.  AAP has fielded Gurpreet Singh from this ward. There are more than 5 thousand voters in this seat.
6. From ward 48, SAD has given the ticket to former minister Hira Singh Gabadia's son Rakhwinder Singh. AAP has fielded Pradeep Kumar and BJP has fielded Kiranpal Singh from this seat.
7. From ward 34, Akali Dal has given ticket to former Mayor Hakam Singh Gyaspura's son and leader of opposition Jaspal Sint. AAP has fielded Sarabjit Singh from this ward. BJP has given ticket to Rajesh Mishra. There are 16,500 voters in this ward.
8. Congress leader and former senior Deputy Mayor Sham Sundar Malhotra is in the fray from Ward 84. Here AAP has fielded Anil Parti and BJP has fielded Neeraj Verma. Akali Dal has given ticket to Amit Bhagat. There are more than 5100 voters in this ward.
