The IPS officers who have been transferred from Ludhiana will have to vacate the official residences allocated to them based on the orders released from the Commissionerate Office.

New officers transferred to Ludhiana are not getting apartments, it has become difficult for officers to get residences based on their ranks. Based on the reports, around 5 bungalows and 25 flats are in the possession of those officers who have been transferred from Ludhiana.

Police Commissioner Kaustubh Sharma has released a notice addressing these officers to vacate the occupied residences at the earliest so that they can be allotted to the new officers being transferred to the city. The notice also mentions that if these officers won’t vacate the residences, they will have to pay the charges for it.

These officers also include those who have been transferred about a year ago but are not vacating the bungalow. These officers include Deepak Pareek, SSP Patiala, Sachin Gupta, who is currently posted as SSP Shri Muktsar Sahib, ACP Jyoti Yadav, currently deployed with Anti Gangster Task Force (AGTF), Pragya Jain, who is SP in Khanna, and J.Lanchellian among others. Apart from this, among the PPS officers, Harsimrat Singh, Gurpreet Singh, Raj Kumar, and Talwinder Singh Gill have flats with them.

CP Sharma said that the officials have been given the notice to vacate the house. If they don't, we will start charging them rent. He went on to say that according to the rules, an officer has to vacate the house in two months or a maximum of six months. Longer stays are allowed in special cases. After this 20,000 thousand rupees monthly rent has to be paid.

Sharma also said that some officers have been provided houses near Rakh Bagh under the deputy commissioner quota with some senior officers also being posted there.

The condition of DC quota houses is also similar, many of which are occupied by officers, who have already been transferred from Ludhiana.

An officer of the District Police Commissionerate said that the previous officers are not vacating the accommodations allotted to them, due to which the present officers have to either stay in the police lines or stay in the residences which are meant for the DSP rank officers.

There is an 'Officers Colony' near the residence of the Police Commissioner. Earlier, IPS and PPS officers used to live in this colony, but some time ago when the number of IPS officers in Ludhiana increased, the name of this place was changed.

The board which has been installed at this place has now been put up for 'IPS Officers Enclave'. It is pertinent to mention here that today it has become difficult for the officers to get accommodation according to their rank in Ludhiana.

The officers who have been transferred were accompanied by security personnel from Ludhiana itself. Due to this, their salary was made by the Ludhiana District Police. To bring that security personnel back to Ludhiana, the Ludhiana CP wrote a letter asking them to send them back or provide any other option, but to no avail.

Due to this, the salary of the high-ranking policemen had to be stopped, after which some security personnel returned to Ludhiana. If sources are to be believed, around 70 such police personnel were getting salaries from Ludhiana, but they were working with the officers posted outside the city.
