Health Department team in Ludhiana on Wednesday morning raided a diagnostic centre in Rishi Nagar and found an “illegal” scan being conducted at the centre.
Police officials informed that a female doctor has been arrested in the case.
Ludhiana Civil Surgeon Dr. SP Singh told media that they had got information from informer that an unregistered scan centre is running in Rishi Nagar and acting on that the health department in coordination with police raided the centre.
He added that they recovered portable ultrasound machine, which was apparently being used for sex determination from the centre.
He further said that the female doctor has been detained and action will be taken against her. He suggested that police will take necessary action under PNDT (Pre-Natal Diagnostic Technique) Act.
Besides police complaint, subsequently they will file a case in the court under relevant act as well. He added that besides the centre not being registered, there was no radiologist at centre.
