Ludhiana Police arrests 3 for mixing phenyl in drinking water tank of cop quarantine centre

According to the information released by SHO Arshpreet Kaur, one of the accused had developed rivalry against cops, as they had arrested his brother in December 2019 in snatching and robbery cases, thus he wanted to teach a lesson to cops.

The Basti Jodhewal Police have arrested three men, who were living in the disguise of transgenders, for an attempt to murder case, when they mixed phenyl in the drinking water tank of a quarantine centre meant for police personnel in Krishan Colony of Jodhewal area. 

According to the information released by SHO Arshpreet Kaur, one of the accused had developed rivalry against cops, as they had arrested his brother in December 2019 in snatching and robbery cases, thus he wanted to teach a lesson to cops. 

The accused are identified as Guniya aka Nitika Khunsi (25), Gaurav (25) and Simran (24) of Krishan Colony. They all have been booked under Sections 307, 277, 328, 186, 511, 120-B of IPC. 

The FIR has been registered on the complaint of constable Gurpinder Singh. 

As per the statement of Constable, he was in security of sub-inspector Arshpreet Kaur Grewal, SHO police station Jodhewal. When  SHO tested positive for COVID-19, he along with constable Rajinder Singh and sub-inspector Amritpal Sharma were quarantined in the centre located in Krishna Colony. Later on, more contacts of corona positive were also quarantined there. These days, he along with two other cops are deployed o security duty at this quarantine centre. 


He added that on Tuesday evening when he opened a tap for drinking water, he got a strong smell of phenyl from it. He went upstairs to check the water tank and found phenyl mixed in it. On questioning natives of the place, they informed that these three accused were seen near the water tank on a rooftop. 

SHO Grewal said, "Guniya is a man but has been living as a transgender with Gaurav and Simran. They are indulged in illegal activities like drug peddling. Guniya's brother Jatinder Singh Pappi was arrested by Jodhewal police in December 2019. Presently, he is lodged in jail. Guniya developed rivalry against police. When cops started living in quarantine centre, the accused also could not run their activities of drug peddling, Therefore, the accused mixed phenyl in the drinking water tank and attempted to kill police personnel."

SHO added, “The police have also got the medical examination of accused one and has identified that he is a man."
