The Ludhiana Rural Police on Wednesday seized cash worth Rs 40.25 lakh a Verna car which sped away after breaking a naka in Tehsil Chowk in Jagraon city.
The car occupants managed to flee away after dumping the car in Sidhwan Bet road when cops chased them.
As per information, an election naka was laid by Jagraon city Police. A team led by Sub-Inspector Surinder Singh with cops were checking the movement of anti-social elements. The cops signalled a Verna car (PB06-AB-0081) to stop but three of the car occupants sped away from the spot.
The police team followed the car to Sidhwan Bet road but the occupants managed to flee away after dumping the car. On checking the car, the cops seized the cash and took it into custody. The police have informed the income tax department for the further action in this case.
