While the people of Punjab's Ludhiana still remember the haunting scenes of the gas leak which claimed at least 9 lives, gas leak fears were sparked yet again in the Giaspura area on Friday. On Friday morning, a pregnant woman who was passing from Sau Road in the Giaspura area fainted abruptly. The pregnant woman fainted at the same place where the gas leak took place on April 30. After the woman fainted and fell sick, fear of gas leaking spread among the people.

As per reports, a pregnant woman complained of uneasiness. After the gas leak fear sparked, the administration took swift action, and as per protocols Municipal Corporation and NDRF teams along with SDM and police rushed to the spot where precautionary cordoning was done while checking ambient air was done with sensors. The pregnant lady received immediate medical attention and is currently doing fine. Coming to the Giaspura area, readings on sensors have not shown any gas leak. However, the District administration and Municipal corporation have scoured the area and are keeping a close watch to avoid any untoward incident.

For the unaware, Giaspura was the center of the gas leak tragedy that jolted Punjab on 30th April. The tragedy occurred on April 30 in Giaspura, a thickly populated area. The Ludhiana gas leak claimed the lives of at least 11 individuals due to toxic gas inhalation. A subsequent post-mortem conducted by a team of doctors confirmed the cause of death as poisoning resulting from the inhalation of toxic gas.
